How to Find Peace in God

Peace is one of my favorite gifts of the Spirit. The peace God gives is not just a quiet moment or temporary relief. It is a deep assurance that comes from knowing Jesus and resting in His presence.
For much of my life, I went against the grain and felt like I was never enough. I looked for sinful pleasures to give me a temporary sense of peace, but it never lasted.
The Peace That Comes From Jesus
When I repented of my sins and turned away from them, I received a sense of peace that is hard to explain. You have to experience it to understand what it is like.
I am now more content being by myself, knowing I am soaking in the presence of the Lord throughout the day. I have been made whole, and I am content with what God has done in my life so far. I know He is not through with me yet.
Peace Changes How You Respond
Having the Holy Spirit dwell in you gives you hope that things are going to be okay. It lets you experience true freedom in this world.
I have noticed that as soon as I open my eyes in the morning, I have confidence that nothing this world throws at me can take away my peace. I do not feel like everything needs a reaction. Sometimes I can simply sit back, observe the situation, and choose how to respond.
Laying Burdens at Jesus Feet
I am no longer relying on worldly pleasures to give me peace. I give all the credit to Jesus and the Cross. Peace is a constant state of ease that comes from Him.
There is no burden too big to lay down at Jesus feet. But when we lay our burdens down, we should not pick them back up. We should give them fully to Him.
Peace Helps You See God at Work
I have come to notice that the more at peace I am, the more aware I am of God and what He is doing in my life. Peace helps you become more content and more able to enjoy the moments you have with friends and loved ones.
Peace also helps you become more in tune with God’s will. Waiting on prayers to be answered becomes less urgent because you are learning to trust His timing.
So I encourage you today: lay down your burdens and ask God for this incredible gift.
